 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to providing notification of utility service connections
 1-9     to appraisal and emergency communication districts.
1-10           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11           SECTION 1.  Section 366.005, Health and Safety Code, is
1-12     amended by amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (e) to
1-13     read as follows:
1-14           (d)  The county judge shall forward the list compiled under
1-15     Subsection (a) to each appraisal district and each emergency
1-16     communication district in the county.
1-17           (e)  In this section:
1-18                 (1)  "Appraisal district" means a district established
1-19     under Section 6.01, Tax Code.
1-20                 (2)  "Electric[, "electric] utility" means an
1-21     investor-owned utility, electric cooperative corporation, river
1-22     authority, or municipally owned utility that provides distribution
1-23     service to retail customers of electricity.
1-24                 (3)  "Emergency communication district" means a
1-25     district established under Chapter 772.
1-26           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-27           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-28     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-29     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-30     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-31     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
