1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to registration of certain motor vehicles by a county tax
 1-3 assessor-collector.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 502.153, Transportation Code, is amended
1-6 by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (j) to read as
 1-7 follows:
1-8 (a) Except as provided by Subsection (j), the [The] owner of

1-16 evidence of financial responsibility.
1-17 (j) This section does not apply to a vehicle registered
1-18 pursuant to Section 501.0234.
1-19 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
1-20 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-21 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-22 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-23 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-24 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
