                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to consolidating the juvenile boards in Bosque, Comanche,
 1-3     and Hamilton counties.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Sections 152.0241(a), (c), and (d), Human
 1-6     Resources Code, are amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (a)  Bosque County is included in the Bosque, Comanche, and
 1-8     Hamilton counties juvenile board.  The juvenile board [of Bosque
 1-9     County] is composed of:
1-10                 (1)  the county judge in Bosque County;
1-11                 (2)  the county judge in Comanche County;
1-12                 (3)  the county judge in Hamilton County; and
1-13                 (4)  the 220th Judicial District judge [and the
1-14     district judges in Bosque County].
1-15           (c)  The commissioners court shall [may] pay the juvenile
1-16     board members additional annual compensation set by the
1-17     commissioners court at not less than the amount paid to a board
1-18     member under this section on October 1, 1998 [more than $1,200 for
1-19     the added duties imposed on the members].  The additional
1-20     compensation shall be paid in equal monthly installments from the
1-21     general fund of the county.
1-22           (d)  Sections 152.0002, [152.0003,] 152.0004, [152.0005,]
1-23     152.0006, 152.0007, and 152.0008(a) do not apply to the juvenile
1-24     board of Bosque County.
 2-1           SECTION 2.  Sections 152.0531(a), (c), and (d), Human
 2-2     Resources Code, are amended to read as follows:
 2-3           (a)  Comanche County is included in the Bosque, Comanche, and
 2-4     Hamilton counties juvenile board. The juvenile board [of Comanche
 2-5     County] is composed of:
 2-6                 (1)  the county judge in Bosque County;
 2-7                 (2)  the county judge in Comanche County;
 2-8                 (3)  the county judge in Hamilton County; and
 2-9                 (4)  the 220th Judicial District judge [and the
2-10     district judges in Comanche County].
2-11           (c)  The commissioners court shall [may] pay the juvenile
2-12     board members additional annual compensation set by the
2-13     commissioners court at not less than the amount paid to a board
2-14     member under this section on October 1, 1998 [more than $1,800 for
2-15     the added duties imposed on the members].  The additional

2-18           (d)  Sections 152.0002, [152.0003,] 152.0004, [152.0005,]
2-19     152.0006, 152.0007, and 152.0008(a) do not apply to the juvenile
2-20     board of Comanche County.
2-21           SECTION 3.  Sections 152.1031(a), (c), and (d), Human
2-22     Resources Code, are amended to read as follows:
2-23           (a)  Hamilton County is included in the Bosque, Comanche, and
2-24     Hamilton counties juvenile board.  The juvenile board [of Hamilton
2-25     County] is composed of:
2-26                 (1)  the county judge in Bosque County;
2-27                 (2)  the county judge in Comanche County;
 3-1                 (3)  the county judge in Hamilton County; and
 3-2                 (4)  the 220th Judicial District judge [and the
 3-3     district judges in Hamilton County].
 3-4           (c)  The commissioners court shall [may] pay the juvenile
 3-5     board members additional annual compensation set by the
 3-6     commissioners court at not less than the amount paid to a board

3-14           SECTION 4.  The importance of this legislation and the
3-15     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
3-16     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
3-17     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
3-18     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
3-19     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
3-20     passage, and it is so enacted.
