1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to consolidating the juvenile boards in Bosque, Comanche,
1-9 and Hamilton counties.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11 SECTION 1. Section 152.0241, Human Resources Code, is
1-12 amended to read as follows:
1-13 Sec. 152.0241. BOSQUE COUNTY. (a) Bosque County is
1-14 included in the Bosque, Comanche, and Hamilton counties juvenile
1-15 board. The juvenile board [of Bosque County] is composed of:
1-16 (1) the county judge in Bosque County;
1-17 (2) the county judge in Comanche County;
1-18 (3) the county judge in Hamilton County; and
1-19 (4) the 220th Judicial District judge [and the
1-20 district judges in Bosque County].
1-21 (b) The 220th Judicial District judge [juvenile court judge]
1-22 is the chairman of the board and its chief administrative officer.
1-23 (c) The commissioners court of Bosque County shall [may] pay
1-24 the county judge in Bosque County and the 220th Judicial District
1-25 judge [juvenile board members] additional annual compensation set
1-26 by the commissioners court at not less than the amount paid to a
1-27 board member under this section on October 1, 1998 [more than
1-28 $1,200 for the added duties imposed on the members]. The
1-29 additional compensation shall be paid in equal monthly installments
1-30 from the general fund of the county.
1-31 (d) Sections 152.0002, [152.0003,] 152.0004, [152.0005,]
1-32 152.0006, 152.0007, and 152.0008(a) do not apply to the juvenile
1-33 board of Bosque County.
1-34 SECTION 2. Section 152.0531, Human Resources Code, is
1-35 amended to read as follows:
1-36 Sec. 152.0531. COMANCHE COUNTY. (a) Comanche County is
1-37 included in the Bosque, Comanche, and Hamilton counties juvenile
1-38 board. The juvenile board [of Comanche County] is composed of:
1-39 (1) the county judge in Bosque County;
1-40 (2) the county judge in Comanche County;
1-41 (3) the county judge in Hamilton County; and
1-42 (4) the 220th Judicial District judge [and the
1-43 district judges in Comanche County].
1-44 (b) The 220th Judicial District judge [juvenile court judge]
1-45 is the chairman of the board and its chief administrative officer.
1-46 (c) The commissioners court of Comanche County shall [may]
1-47 pay the county judge in Comanche County and the 220th Judicial
1-48 District judge [juvenile board members] additional annual
1-49 compensation set by the commissioners court at not less than the
1-50 amount paid to a board member under this section on October 1, 1998
1-51 [more than $1,800 for the added duties imposed on the members].
1-52 The additional compensation shall be paid in equal monthly
1-53 installments from the general fund of the county.

1-57 SECTION 3. Section 152.1031, Human Resources Code, is
1-58 amended to read as follows:
1-59 Sec. 152.1031. HAMILTON COUNTY. (a) Hamilton County is
1-60 included in the Bosque, Comanche, and Hamilton counties juvenile
1-61 board. The juvenile board [of Hamilton County] is composed of:
1-62 (1) the county judge in Bosque County;
1-63 (2) the county judge in Comanche County;
1-64 (3) the county judge in Hamilton County; and
2-1 (4) the 220th Judicial District judge [and the
2-2 district judges in Hamilton County].
2-3 (b) The 220th Judicial District judge [juvenile court judge]
2-4 is the chairman of the board and its chief administrative officer.
2-5 (c) The commissioners court of Hamilton County shall [may]
2-6 pay the county judge in Hamilton County and the 220th Judicial
2-7 Disrict judge [juvenile board members] additional annual
2-8 compensation set by the commissioners court at not less than the
2-9 amount paid to a board member under this section on October 1, 1998
2-10 [more than $1,200 for the added duties imposed on the members].
2-11 The compensation shall be paid in equal monthly installments from
2-12 the general fund of the county.
2-13 (d) Sections 152.0002, [152.0003,] 152.0004, [152.0005,]
2-14 152.0006, 152.0007, and 152.0008(a) do not apply to the juvenile
2-15 board of Hamilton County.
2-16 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the
2-17 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-18 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-19 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-20 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
2-21 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-22 passage, and it is so enacted.
