No. 1779 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House April 16, 1999; 1-3 April 19, 1999, read first time and referred to Committee on State 1-4 Affairs; May 12, 1999, reported favorably by the following vote: 1-5 Yeas 7, Nays 2; May 12, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the eligibility of lodging establishments located near 1-9 interchanges for specific information logo signs. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Section 391.093, Transportation Code, is amended 1-12 by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: 1-13 (f) The department shall by rule provide that an 1-14 establishment that provides lodging is eligible to have its name 1-15 displayed on a specific information logo sign if the establishment 1-16 is: 1-17 (1) visible from an eligible highway or an interchange 1-18 on an eligible highway; and 1-19 (2) located on a street that is not more than two 1-20 turns off the access or frontage road to the eligible highway. 1-21 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-22 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-23 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-24 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-25 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-26 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-27 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-28 * * * * *
