By Chisum H.B. No. 1921 76R1753 MLS-D A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the appointment of a bailiff for certain counties in 1-3 the 84th Judicial District. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Section 53.002, Government Code, is amended by 1-6 adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: 1-7 (h) The judge of the 84th district court may appoint a 1-8 bailiff to serve the court in Hansford and Hutchinson counties. 1-9 SECTION 2. Section 53.009(k), Government Code, is amended to 1-10 read as follows: 1-11 (k) The bailiffs of the 12th, 84th, 258th, and 278th 1-12 district courts are entitled to receive a salary set by the judge 1-13 and approved by the commissioners court of each of the counties in 1-14 which the bailiff is designated to serve. The salary shall be 1-15 apportioned by the judge among the counties in which the bailiff is 1-16 designated to serve. The judge shall give each commissioners court 1-17 in the district written notification of the amount of compensation 1-18 to be paid by the county. The salary is paid out of the general 1-19 fund of each county. 1-20 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-21 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-22 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-23 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-24 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 2-1 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 2-2 passage, and it is so enacted.
