1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to installation, repair, or removal of certain vent hoods.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 6, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
1-5 Contractor License Law (Article 8861, Vernon's Texas Civil
1-6 Statutes), is amended by adding Subsection (h) to read as follows:
1-7 (h) This Act does not apply to a person who installs,
1-8 repairs, or removes a vent hood of the type commonly used in
1-9 residential and commercial kitchens.
1-10 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately and applies
1-11 only to the installation, repair, or removal of a vent hood that
1-12 occurs on or after the effective date of this Act. Installations,
1-13 repairs, and removals of vent hoods that occur before the effective
1-14 date of this Act are governed by the law in effect on the day the
1-15 installation, repair, or removal occurred, and that law is
1-16 continued in effect for that purpose.
1-17 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-18 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-19 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-20 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-21 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-22 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-23 passage, and it is so enacted.
