                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the compensation of certain county tax
 1-3     assessor-collectors.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter Z, Chapter 152, Local Government Code,
 1-6     is amended by adding Section 152.907 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 152.907.  COMPENSATION OF COUNTY TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTORS
 1-8     IN CERTAIN COUNTIES.  (a)  This section applies only to a county
 1-9     with a population of 1 million or more.
1-10           (b)  The commissioners court of the county shall set the
1-11     annual salary of the county tax assessor-collector at an amount
1-12     equal to the annual salary set for the county auditor of the
1-13     county.
1-14           SECTION 2.  The commissioners court shall set a county tax
1-15     assessor-collector's salary in accordance with Section 152.907,
1-16     Local Government Code, as added by this Act, beginning with the
1-17     first county fiscal year that begins after the effective date of
1-18     this Act.
1-19           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-20     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-21     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-22     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-23     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-24     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
 2-1     passage, and it is so enacted.
