                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the publication of a roster by the Texas Board of
 1-3 Professional Engineers.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 11, The Texas Engineering Practice Act
1-6 (Article 3271a, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read
 1-7 as follows:
1-8 Sec. 11. ENGINEER ROSTER [OF LICENSED ENGINEERS]. [A roster
1-9 showing the names and places of business of all licensed
1-10 professional engineers shall be prepared and published by the Board
1-11 each biennium at a time determined by the Board. Copies of this
1-12 roster shall be furnished without charge to any engineer licensed
1-13 by the Board on the written request of the engineer, placed on file
1-14 with the Secretary of State, and furnished to any person upon
1-15 written request who tenders a reproduction fee set by the Board.]
1-16 The Board shall publish a roster of persons or business entities
1-17 licensed, registered, certified or enrolled by the Board. The
1-18 roster shall include names, business addresses and other
1-19 identifying information, and shall be available without cost to the
1-20 public in an on-line computer database format. A reproduction and
1-21 shipping fee may be charged for physical copies.
1-22 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2000.
1-23 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-24 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-1 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-2 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-3 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
