                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to information to be included on a driver's license or
 1-3     personal identification certificate.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 521.125, Transportation Code, is amended
 1-6     to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 521.125.  [MEDICAL] INFORMATION ON LICENSE OR PERSONAL
 1-8     IDENTIFICATION CERTIFICATE.  (a)  On the reverse side of a driver's
 1-9     license, the department shall print:
1-10                 (1)  "Allergic Reaction to Drugs:_____"; [and]
1-11                 (2)  "Directive to physician has been filed at tel. #"
1-12     followed by a line that the license holder may use to indicate the
1-13     appropriate telephone number; and
1-14                 (3)  the name, address, and telephone number, as
1-15     provided by the license holder, of a person to contact in case of
1-16     an emergency involving the license holder.
1-17           (b)  The department shall also print the information under
1-18     Subsection (a)(3) on the reverse side of each personal
1-19     identification certificate.
1-20           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-21           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-22     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-23     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-24     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
 2-1     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
