 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to the Crime Stoppers Advisory Council.
 1-9           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-10           SECTION 1.  Section 414.002(c), Government Code, is amended
1-11     to read as follows:
1-12           (c)  The term of office of a member is four [two] years.
1-13           SECTION 2.  At their first meeting after this Act takes
1-14     effect, the members of the Crime Stoppers Advisory Council shall
1-15     draw for three terms expiring September 1, 2000, and two terms
1-16     expiring September 1, 2001.
1-17           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-18     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-19     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-20     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-21     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
