By Counts H.B. No. 2447 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the authority of the Colorado River Municipal Water 1-3 District to generate, purchase, and sell water power and electric 1-4 energy and to acquire and dispose of facilities for those purposes. 1-5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-6 SECTION 1. Chapter 340, Acts of the 51st Legislature, 1-7 Regular Session, 1949 (Article 8280-137, Vernon's Texas Civil 1-8 Statutes), is amended by adding Section 7B to read as follows: 1-9 Sec. 7B. (a) The District may: 1-10 (1) develop, generate, transmit, or distribute water 1-11 power and electric energy inside the District's boundaries for its 1-12 own use; 1-13 (2) purchase electric energy from any available source 1-14 for use at a facility the District owns, operates, and maintains 1-15 inside the District's boundaries; 1-16 (3) enter into an agreement to acquire, install, 1-17 construct, finance, operate, make an addition to, own, or operate 1-18 an electric energy generating, transmission, or distribution 1-19 facility jointly with another person; or 1-20 (4) sell or otherwise dispose of any of the District's 1-21 interest in a jointly owned facility described by Subdivision (3) 1-22 of this subsection. 1-23 (b) This section does not affect the applicability of Title 1-24 2, Utilities Code, to the District or to actions of the District. 2-1 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2002. 2-2 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 2-3 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 2-4 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 2-5 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 2-6 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
