No. 2536 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 5, 1999; 1-3 May 6, 1999, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Intergovernmental Relations; May 13, 1999, reported favorably by 1-5 the following vote: Yeas 5, Nays 0; May 13, 1999, sent to 1-6 printer.) 1-7 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-8 AN ACT 1-9 relating to the salary of the county judge of Dallas County. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Section 152.904, Local Government Code, is 1-12 amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: 1-13 (f) The commissioners court of Dallas County shall set the 1-14 annual salary of the county judge at an amount that is not less 1-15 than $1,000 more than the total annual salary received by a county 1-16 criminal court at law judge in the county. The salary shall be 1-17 paid in 12 equal monthly installments. 1-18 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only 1-19 to a salary of the county judge in Dallas County that is set by the 1-20 commissioners court on or after the effective date of this Act. 1-21 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-22 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-23 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-24 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-25 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-26 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-27 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-28 * * * * *
