1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to compulsory inspection of certain vehicles to be
1-3 registered and titled outside this state.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 548.052, Transportation Code, is amended
1-6 to read as follows:
1-7 Sec. 548.052. VEHICLES NOT SUBJECT TO INSPECTION. This
1-8 chapter does not apply to:
1-9 (1) a trailer, semitrailer, pole trailer, or mobile
1-10 home moving under or bearing a current factory-delivery license
1-11 plate or current in-transit license plate;
1-12 (2) a vehicle moving under or bearing a paper dealer
1-13 in-transit tag, machinery license, disaster license, parade
1-14 license, prorate tab, one-trip permit, antique license, temporary
1-15 24-hour permit, or permit license;
1-16 (3) a trailer, semitrailer, pole trailer, or mobile
1-17 home having an actual gross weight or registered gross weight of
1-18 4,500 pounds or less;
1-19 (4) farm machinery, road-building equipment, a farm
1-20 trailer, or a vehicle required to display a slow-moving-vehicle
1-21 emblem under Section 547.703; [or]
1-22 (5) a former military vehicle, as defined by Section
1-23 502.275; or
1-24 (6) a vehicle qualified for a tax exemption under
2-1 Section 152.092, Tax Code [502.275(o)].
2-2 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the
2-3 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-4 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-5 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-6 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
2-7 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-8 passage, and it is so enacted.
