 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to the assessment of certain fees on persons who perform
 1-9     radiologic procedures.
1-10           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11           SECTION 1.  Section 2.09, Medical Radiologic Technologist
1-12     Certification Act (Article 4512m, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes),
1-13     is amended by amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (e) to
1-14     read as follows:
1-15           (d)  The Texas Board of Health may set fees:
1-16                 (1)  for examination, certificate issuance, and
1-17     certificate renewal; and
1-18                 (2)  as necessary to register a person required to
1-19     comply with Section 2.05(f) of this Act or to process an
1-20     application under Section 2.05(i) of this Act for a hardship
1-21     exemption from the registration requirement.
1-22           (e)  The Texas Board of Health shall set [the] fees under
1-23     Subsection (d) in amounts that are reasonable to cover the costs of
1-24     administering this Act without the use of additional general
1-25     revenue funds.
1-26           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-27           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-28     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-29     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-30     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-31     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
