No. 2819 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 10, 1999; 1-3 May 10, 1999, read first time and referred to Committee on State 1-4 Affairs; May 14, 1999, reported favorably by the following vote: 1-5 Yeas 8, Nays 0; May 14, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the designation of the interchange at U.S. Highways 83 1-9 and 84 and Loop 322 in Abilene as the Sam Waldrop Highway 1-10 Interchange. 1-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-12 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, 1-13 is amended by adding Section 225.041 to read as follows: 1-14 Sec. 225.041. SAM WALDROP HIGHWAY INTERCHANGE. (a) The 1-15 interchange of U.S. Highways 83 and 84 and Loop 322 in Abilene is 1-16 designated as the Sam Waldrop Highway Interchange. 1-17 (b) The department shall design and construct memorial 1-18 markers indicating the interchange number, the designation as the 1-19 Sam Waldrop Interchange, and any other appropriate information. 1-20 (c) The department shall erect a marker at each end of the 1-21 interchange and at appropriate intermediate sites along the 1-22 interchange. 1-23 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-24 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-25 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-26 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-27 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-28 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-29 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-30 * * * * *
