No. 2915 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 11, 1999; 1-3 May 12, 1999, read first time and referred to Committee on Economic 1-4 Development; May 14, 1999, reported favorably by the following 1-5 vote: Yeas 7, Nays 0; May 14, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the powers and duties of the executive director of the 1-9 workforce development division of the Texas Workforce Commission. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Section 302.002, Labor Code, is amended by adding 1-12 Subsection (f) to read as follows: 1-13 (f) In addition to the services provided under Subsection 1-14 (a)(12), the executive director may enter into contracts with local 1-15 workforce development boards or other entities to establish service 1-16 level agreements for technology assistance and support. The 1-17 executive director may charge fees for services based on the 1-18 service level options selected by those entities. All fees 1-19 collected under this subsection may be used only by the commission 1-20 to pay costs incurred in providing those services. 1-21 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999. 1-22 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-23 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-24 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-25 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-26 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended. 1-27 * * * * *
