A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to an amendment to Article 717q, Revised Civil Statutes, 1-3 as amended. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Section 1(1)(H), Article 717q, Revised Civil 1-6 Statutes, as amended, is amended to read as follows: 1-7 (H) any hospital authority or hospital district in a county 1-8 with a population of more than 2 million, according to the most 1-9 recent federal census, or any hospital authority in a county that 1-10 is included, in whole or in part, in a standard metropolitan 1-11 statistical area of this state that includes a county with a 1-12 population of more than 1,800,000, that was created or is operating 1-13 under Chapter 262, Health and Safety Code, or Chapter 264, Health 1-14 and Safety Code. 1-15 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-16 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-17 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-18 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-19 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-20 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-21 passage, and it is so enacted.
