Bill not drafted by TLC or Senate E&E.
                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to certain information required to be included in the
1-3 record of a workers' compensation contested case hearing.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 410.164, Labor Code, is amended by adding
1-6 Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1-7 (c) At each contested case hearing, as applicable, the
1-8 insurance carrier shall file with the hearing officer and shall
1-9 deliver to the claimant a document stating the corporate name of
1-10 the insurance carrier and the name and address of the insurance
1-11 carrier's registered agent for service of process. The document is
1-12 part of the record of the contested case hearing.
1-13 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999, and
1-14 applies only to a workers' compensation contested case hearing that
1-15 is initiated on or after that date. A contested case hearing that
1-16 is initiated before that date is governed by the law in effect on
1-17 the date that the hearing was initiated, and the former law is
1-18 continued in effect for that purpose.
1-19 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-20 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-21 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-1 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-2 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
