No. 3616 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 11, 1999; 1-3 May 12, 1999, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Jurisprudence; May 14, 1999, reported favorably by the following 1-5 vote: Yeas 3, Nays 0; May 14, 1999, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to amending a petition for judicial review of certain ad 1-9 valorem tax determinations. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Section 42.21, Tax Code, is amended by adding 1-12 Subsection (e) to read as follows: 1-13 (e) A petition that is timely filed under Subsection (a) or 1-14 amended under Subsection (c) may be subsequently amended to: 1-15 (1) correct or change the name of a party; or 1-16 (2) not later than the 120th day before the date of 1-17 trial, identify or describe the property originally involved in the 1-18 appeal. 1-19 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act to Section 1-20 42.21, Tax Code, apply to any proceeding that is pending under 1-21 Chapter 42, Tax Code, on the effective date of this Act or 1-22 initiated on or after that date. 1-23 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the 1-24 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-25 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-26 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-27 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-28 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-29 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-30 * * * * *
