1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the use of certain funds by the Nueces County Hospital
 1-3     District.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Subchapter E, Chapter 281, Health and Safety
 1-6     Code, is amended by adding Section 281.094 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 281.094.  USE OF CERTAIN FUNDS BY THE NUECES COUNTY
 1-8     HOSPITAL DISTRICT.  (a) With the approval of the Nueces County
 1-9     Commissioners Court, the board of the Nueces County Hospital
1-10     District may use funds made available to the district from sources
1-11     other than a tax levy to fund health care services, including
1-12     public health services, mental health and mental retardation
1-13     services, emergency medical services, health services provided to
1-14     persons confined in jail facilities, and for other health related
1-15     purposes.
1-16           (b)  The board of the Nueces County Hospital District may use
1-17     funds made available to the district from any source to fund
1-18     indigent health care.
1-19           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-20     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-21     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-22     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-23     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-24     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
 2-1     passage, and it is so enacted.
