1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the creation of a statutory county court in Matagorda
 1-3     County.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 2, Chapter 551, Acts of the 74th
 1-6     Legislature, Regular Session, 1995, as amended by Chapter 446, Acts
 1-7     of the 75th Legislature, Regular Session, 1997, is amended to read
 1-8     as follows:
 1-9           Sec. 2.   Notwithstanding Section 25.1631, Government Code,
1-10     as added by this Act, the County Court at Law of Matagorda County
1-11     is created September 1, 2003 [2001], or on an earlier date
1-12     determined by the commissioners court by an order entered in its
1-13     minutes.
1-14           SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-15     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-16     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-17     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-18     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-19     and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-20     passage, and it is so enacted.
