1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the composition of the Galveston County Juvenile Board.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 152.0901(a), Human Resources Code, is
1-5 amended to read as follows:
1-6 (a) The Galveston County Juvenile Board is composed of:
1-7 (1) the county judge; [,]
1-8 (2) the district judges in Galveston County; [, and]
1-9 (3) the judge of each statutory county court;
1-10 (4) a municipal judge in Galveston County, selected by
1-11 majority vote of all the municipal judges in the county; and
1-12 (5) a justice of the peace in Galveston County,
1-13 selected by majority vote of all the justices of the peace in the
1-14 county.
1-15 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-16 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-17 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-18 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-19 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-20 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
