 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to the composition of the Galveston County Juvenile Board.
 1-9           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-10           SECTION 1.  Section 152.0901(a), Human Resources Code, is
1-11     amended to read as follows:
1-12           (a)  The Galveston County Juvenile Board is composed of:
1-13                 (1)  the county judge; [,]
1-14                 (2)  the district judges in Galveston County; [, and]
1-15                 (3)  the judge of each statutory county court;
1-16                 (4)  a municipal judge in Galveston County, selected by
1-17     majority vote of all the municipal judges in the county; and
1-18                 (5)  a justice of the peace in Galveston County,
1-19     selected by majority vote of all the justices of the peace in the
1-20     county.
1-21           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 1999.
1-22           SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
1-23     crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-24     emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-25     constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-26     days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
