No. 6 76R7015 WMS-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas takes great 1-2 pleasure in congratulating Tatum Hubbard on being named Miss Texas, 1-3 1998; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Selected from a field of lovely and talented 1-5 contestants, this vivacious young woman won the preliminary 1-6 swimsuit and talent competitions and had the overall best 1-7 interview; and 1-8 WHEREAS, In addition, she was chosen by her fellow 1-9 contestants to receive the "Spirit of Texas" award, for best 1-10 demonstrating the qualities of a Miss Texas; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Ms. Hubbard graduated from The University of Texas 1-12 at Arlington with a degree in political science and a minor in 1-13 communications; before earning the Miss Texas crown, she was 1-14 pursuing her master's degree in education while working as a second 1-15 grade teacher, and after completing her reign she plans a career as 1-16 a public school teacher; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to education, she is working in 1-18 school districts across the state with the Texas Cares for Children 1-19 Program and also devotes her time and energy to promoting 1-20 volunteerism, women and youth issues, and assistance for at-risk 1-21 youth; and 1-22 WHEREAS, With her outstanding grace, intelligence, and charm, 1-23 Tatum Hubbard will continue to provide exemplary representation for 1-24 our state throughout the remainder of her year-long reign as Miss 2-1 Texas, and it is appropriate that she be given special legislative 2-2 recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the 76th Texas Legislature hereby honor Tatum 2-4 Hubbard on being chosen Miss Texas, 1998, and extend to her sincere 2-5 best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for Ms. Hubbard as an expression of high regard by the 2-8 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
