HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, A 65th wedding anniversary is truly a cause for 1-2 celebration, and on February 6, 1999, Alton and Edith Towery will 1-3 mark one such significant milestone in the company of their family 1-4 and friends; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Lifelong residents of the Midland-Odessa area, this 1-6 devoted couple were married on February 7, 1934, in Midland; their 1-7 strong and lasting union is blessed with four children; and 1-8 WHEREAS, For 50 years, Mr. Towery served as a minister; and 1-9 he continues to assist the needy through the Mission of Mercy in 1-10 Odessa, which is funded by the Odessa Veterans of Foreign Wars; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Mrs. Towery has always provided love and support to 1-12 her family and for years has been a partner with her husband in the 1-13 work of the Mission of Mercy; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Towery have shared many happy times and 1-15 cherished memories; their commitment to each other and to their 1-16 community is a source of great pride to their family and friends, 1-17 and it is indeed appropriate that they be honored at this time; 1-18 now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-20 hereby congratulate Alton and Edith Towery on the occasion of their 1-21 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for 1-22 continued happiness in the future; and, be it further 1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-24 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Towery as an expression of high regard by 2-1 the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
