No. 33 76R3369 JBR-F HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, For each of the past 52 years, the YMCAs of Texas 1-2 have sponsored a youth and government program for the purpose of 1-3 training the state's youth in the process of representative 1-4 government and democracy; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Participants are elected by their local YMCA youth 1-6 clubs or high schools, and preparatory district conferences set 1-7 agendas for the annual program and acquaint the youth with 1-8 governmental processes; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Plans are currently underway for the 52nd and 53rd 1-10 annual Texas YMCA Model Legislatures and Judicial Sessions to be 1-11 held in Austin; contemplated dates for those sessions are Thursday 1-12 through Sunday, March 4-7, 1999, and January 27-30, 2000, with 1-13 opening sessions each year planned for Thursday evening and mock 1-14 legislative sessions planned for Friday and Saturday; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The YMCA Youth and Government Program provides a 1-16 valuable and comprehensive educational experience, and the 1-17 legislature supports the ideals of this worthy program as a means 1-18 of developing an informed citizenry and as a training ground for 1-19 future state officials; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas, in 1-21 accordance with the senate and house rules of procedure and 1-22 policies of the Senate Administration Committee and the House 1-23 Administration Committee, hereby grant permission to the YMCA Youth 1-24 and Government Program to use the chambers of the senate and house 2-1 of representatives, auditorium, and committee rooms in the State 2-2 Capitol on March 4-7, 1999, and on January 27-30, 2000, unless the 2-3 Texas Senate and the Texas House of Representatives are in session 2-4 on those dates.
