                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of former  State Representative Renal B.
 1-2     Rosson of Snyder, on January 12, 1998, at the age of 78, brought a
 1-3     great loss to the family and many friends of this esteemed Texan;
 1-4     and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Mr. Rosson served eight terms in the Texas House of
 1-6     Representatives, from his freshman year with the 56th Legislature
 1-7     in 1959 through the 63rd Legislature in 1974; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, He was born on December 24, 1919; a retired captain
 1-9     in the U.S.  Army Air Corps, Mr. Rosson served his state and nation
1-10     proudly and earned the Purple Heart for his role in the European
1-11     Theater during World War II; and
1-12           WHEREAS, A respected attorney with a keen sense of civic
1-13     responsibility and public service, Mr. Rosson served two terms as
1-14     district attorney for Scurry and Borden counties and, after
1-15     retiring from the house, he was appointed to the Texas Health
1-16     Facilities Commission by then Governor Dolph Briscoe; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Rosson's commitment to his community went far
1-18     beyond his public offices, however, for the Lions Club, the chamber
1-19     of commerce, and the Committee of Western Texas all benefited from
1-20     his experience and energy; as  a committee member for the creation
1-21     of a city park in Snyder, his efforts were invaluable and have
1-22     resulted in  a real and lasting legacy for the citizens of that
1-23     city; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Throughout his endeavors, Mr. Rosson was ably
 2-1     supported by his beloved wife, Dorothy; with their son, Kyle, the
 2-2     family's years together were surely happy ones, filled with much
 2-3     love and many happy memories; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, Though the counsel and warmth of this Lone Star
 2-5     statesman and rancher will be deeply missed, his spirit truly
 2-6     remains in the hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he
 2-7     touched; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-9     hereby pay tribute to the life of Renal B. Rosson and extend
2-10     sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Dorothy
2-11     Murphree Rosson; to his son, Kyle Boyd Rosson; and to the many
2-12     other relatives and friends of this remarkable gentleman; and, be
2-13     it further
2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15     prepared  for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-16     House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in
2-17     memory of the Honorable Renal B. Rosson.
