HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The 76th Legislature of the State of Texas is proud
 1-2     to join citizens from across the Lone Star State in the observance
 1-3     of School Social Work Week in Texas during the first week of May
 1-4     1999; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Professional school social workers represent a vital
 1-6     aspect of the educational teams in many school districts in Texas,
 1-7     working in collaboration with teachers and administrators to
 1-8     encourage the active participation of families and communities in
 1-9     the educational process; and
1-10           WHEREAS, This alliance of caring individuals helps obtain
1-11     essential social services for children and their families in an
1-12     effort to help them meet their responsibilities and successfully
1-13     master the challenges presented by life in modern society; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Throughout Texas, professional school social workers
1-15     promote a positive environment in which students can learn, and
1-16     these dedicated professionals contribute immeasurably to the
1-17     success of students and are surely deserving of special recognition
1-18     at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives and Senate of the
1-20     76th Texas Legislature hereby recognize the first week of May 1999
1-21     as School Social Work Week in Texas and extend to all members of
1-22     the profession warmest wishes for continued success.
