                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The many brave Texans who have dedicated themselves
 1-2     to the difficult and dangerous work of ensuring the safety of
 1-3     others are indeed worthy of admiration and acknowledgment; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Sheriffs, deputies, constables, patrolmen, rangers,
 1-5     and marshals have each sworn to uphold and enforce the laws of the
 1-6     state; whatever their title, all have chosen a career that demands
 1-7     great sacrifice of the individual, for law enforcement is vital to
 1-8     the common good; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In committing themselves to safeguarding the
1-10     security of the general public, these men and women routinely enter
1-11     into great risk and face grave danger; in their struggles to
1-12     preserve the peace for their fellow citizens, these individuals
1-13     protect and reflect the ideals we share as a people; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Death in the line of duty is a daily possibility for
1-15     Texas law enforcement personnel, a frightening reality for many
1-16     outside the profession but one faced stoically by those within;
1-17     these selfless public servants truly merit commendation, and it is
1-18     most fitting that we honor their noteworthy contributions at this
1-19     time; now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
1-21     hereby recognize Law Enforcement Officer Recognition Week in Texas,
1-22     to coincide with federal recognition, and encourage residents of
1-23     the Lone Star State to join with the legislature in honoring all
1-24     law enforcement officers, for they are truly deserving of the
 2-1     respect and support of all Texans.
