By West H.C.R. No. 71 76R774 WMS-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of the Reverend Carl J. Grissom on July 1-2 4, 1998, at the age of 83, has brought a great loss to the many 1-3 relatives and friends of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born in Dublin and relocated 1-5 to Odessa in 1985; years ago he answered the call to the ministry, 1-6 and throughout his lifetime he selflessly labored to meet the 1-7 spiritual needs of his fellowman as a minister of the Baptist 1-8 church; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Reverend Grissom was equally devoted to his roles as 1-10 husband and father, and he served as an inspirational presence not 1-11 only to his family, but to all those who had the good fortune to 1-12 know him; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Carl J. Grissom was a man of rare dedication and 1-14 generosity; although his warmth and wisdom are gone from us now, 1-15 his remarkable spirit will surely live on in the hearts of the many 1-16 people whose lives he touched during his time on this earth; now, 1-17 therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas pay 1-19 special tribute to the life of the Reverend Carl J. Grissom and 1-20 that sincere sympathy be extended to the members of his family: to 1-21 his wife, Ada Lee Grissom; to his daughter, Maryln Kay Williams; to 1-22 his three grandchildren; and to the many other friends and 1-23 relatives of this fine man; and, be it further 1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-2 House of Representatives and Texas Senate adjourn this day, they do 2-3 so in memory of Carl J. Grissom.
