By West H.C.R. No. 72 76R777 WMS-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of the Reverend Jim R. Wilson on July 1-2 22, 1998, at the age of 68, brought a great loss to the many 1-3 friends and relatives of this respected clergyman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born October 10, 1929, in Hess, Oklahoma, Reverend 1-5 Wilson was graduated from Pampa High School in 1948 and pursued his 1-6 higher education at Sul Ross State University, where he achieved 1-7 outstanding success as a placekicker on the football team and 1-8 earned the nickname of "The Golden Toe"; and 1-9 WHEREAS, After college he answered the call to the ministry, 1-10 attending the seminary in Fort Worth, and he later pastored in 1-11 Etter, Shamrock, Balmorhea, Alpine, and El Paso; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Before his retirement in 1998, he was the chaplain 1-13 at Odessa Medical Center for 19 years, and throughout his tenure in 1-14 that position he provided comfort and strength to countless needy 1-15 individuals; in recognition of his outstanding service, Reverend 1-16 Wilson was named an honorary member of the Medical Hospital 1-17 Auxiliary; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Jim Wilson was a man of rare compassion and faith; 1-19 although his warmth and wisdom have been deeply missed, his 1-20 remarkable spirit lives on in the hearts of the many people whose 1-21 lives he touched during his time on this earth; now, therefore, be 1-22 it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-24 hereby pay tribute to the life of the Reverend Jim R. Wilson and 2-1 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 2-2 Helen Wilson; to his sons, Tommy Wilson, Paul Wilson, Ross Wilson, 2-3 and David Wilson; to his mother, Drusilla Cosper; to his brother, 2-4 Elmer Wilson; to his eight grandchildren; to his two 2-5 great-grandchildren; and to the many other friends and relatives of 2-6 this beloved gentleman; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-9 House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in 2-10 his memory.
