HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, Bobbie Duncan, an esteemed Odessa teacher, has
 1-2     dedicated more than four decades of her life to improving the
 1-3     quality of education in Texas; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&I University in Kingsville,
 1-5     she began her distinguished career as an educator in Sinton and
 1-6     also worked as a teacher in Big Spring before moving to Odessa in
 1-7     1957; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Her initial position with the Ector County
 1-9     Independent School District was as a fifth grade teacher at Reagan
1-10     Elementary School, and she also brought her remarkable gift for
1-11     instruction to classrooms at Travis, Lamar, and Ireland elementary
1-12     schools; and
1-13           WHEREAS, In 1974 she took on the challenge of teaching
1-14     homebound students, and her attentiveness, patience, and dedication
1-15     have been instrumental in meeting the special needs of those
1-16     pupils; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Ms. Duncan is a highly respected voice in the
1-18     education community; she served two three-year terms as a state
1-19     representative on the National Education Association's board of
1-20     directors and participated in the World Confederation of
1-21     Organizations of the Teaching Profession held in Stockholm, Sweden,
1-22     in 1993; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Throughout the course of her exemplary career,
1-24     Bobbie Duncan has set standards of excellence and professionalism
 2-1     to which all in the field of education can aspire and her
 2-2     remarkable achievements are truly worthy of special recognition at
 2-3     this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-4           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-5     hereby commend Bobbie Duncan for her many significant contributions
 2-6     to the cause of education and extend to her sincere best wishes for
 2-7     continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
 2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-9     prepared for Bobbie Duncan as an expression of highest regard by
2-10     the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate.
