No. 89 76R1066 BE-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Sarah Elisabeth Worley on 1-2 April 2, 1998, at the age of 17, has brought great sorrow and loss 1-3 to the family and many friends of this bright and loving young 1-4 Texan; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Miss Worley was the daughter of Lee Worley, a 1-6 businessman, and Carmen Rivera-Worley, former Val Verde County 1-7 Attorney; in 1993, the Worley family moved to Denton, where Sarah 1-8 became a high school honors student and earned admission to the 1-9 prestigious Tulane University School of Architecture; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The esteem and genuine affection so many people held 1-11 for this remarkable young woman were apparent in two separate 1-12 memorial services, one in her hometown of Del Rio at the First 1-13 United Methodist Church and another in Denton at Trinity Methodist 1-14 Church; united in their high regard for Miss Worley, family and 1-15 friends have established a number of scholarships in her name as 1-16 well; and 1-17 WHEREAS, In her youth, her promise, and her intelligence, 1-18 Sarah Worley represented the best and brightest of Texas, and 1-19 though her presence is deeply missed, surely her spirit lives on in 1-20 the hearts and memories of all those who were privileged to know 1-21 her, and it is indeed fitting to honor her memory at this time; 1-22 now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-24 hereby pay tribute to the life of Sarah Elisabeth Worley and extend 2-1 sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her parents, Lee 2-2 Worley and Carmen Rivera-Worley; to her brother, Ernest Lee Worley 2-3 IV; to her grandparents, Jose M. Rivera and Ernest and Zina Worley; 2-4 and to all her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-7 House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in 2-8 memory of Sarah Elisabeth Worley.
