                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, In 1993 the legislature authorized the Texas
 1-2     Commission on the Arts to begin issuing the specially designed
 1-3     "State of the Arts" license plate, an endeavor that has proved
 1-4     greatly beneficial to the Lone Star State; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, The goal of the Texas Commission on the Arts is to
 1-6     foster a receptive climate for the arts that culturally benefits
 1-7     state citizens in their daily lives, and the creation of this
 1-8     unique license plate has significantly contributed to this
 1-9     important effort; and
1-10           WHEREAS, These plates feature a vibrant blend of color and
1-11     design approved by the Texas Commission on the Arts; both artistic
1-12     and distinctive to the Lone Star State, the plates are a source of
1-13     great pride to all Texas residents and a source of increased
1-14     funding for the commission; and
1-15           WHEREAS, The artistic culture of the Lone Star State enriches
1-16     the lives of all Texans, and it is indeed fitting at this time to
1-17     designate the "State of the Arts" license plate as the official
1-18     license plate of the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
1-19           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
1-20     hereby declare the "State of the Arts" license plate of the Texas
1-21     Commission on the Arts as the official license plate of Texas.
