                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Ryan Lee Riddle, at the age
 1-2     of 22, has brought an irreplaceable loss to the family and many
 1-3     friends of this esteemed young gentleman, and it is most
 1-4     appropriate that we honor his memory at this time; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A native of Houston, he was born on May 27, 1976, to
 1-6     Jimmy and Carolyn Riddle; he spent his childhood in Livingston,
 1-7     where he was active in the First United Methodist Church and
 1-8     graduated from Livingston High School; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Mr. Riddle attended Angelina Junior College and
1-10     Stephen F. Austin State University; he later made his home in
1-11     Richmond and was a highly valued employee with Houston Lighting &
1-12     Power Company; and
1-13           WHEREAS, During his short time here, he reminded us that the
1-14     ability to give and inspire love is not limited by age or time;
1-15     this cherished young man and his beloved fiance, Kelly Dawn Oliver,
1-16     were engaged to be married on November 14, 1998; and
1-17           WHEREAS, His many friends affectionately called him "Smiley"
1-18     because he loved life and often wore an irrepressible smile; his
1-19     energy and outgoing personality delighted those close to him, and
1-20     with him they enjoyed many happy hours in active outdoor pursuits
1-21     such as hunting, fishing, rodeo, golf, and his favorite sport,
1-22     baseball; and
1-23           WHEREAS, Although it is painful to say goodbye to one so
1-24     young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember that while
 2-1     Ryan's time here was brief, his life had a profound impact on those
 2-2     around him, and his unique spirit of friendship and devotion will
 2-3     surely live on in the hearts and minds of all those whose lives he
 2-4     touched; now, therefore, be it
 2-5           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-6     hereby pay tribute to the life of Ryan Lee Riddle and extend
 2-7     deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his parents,
 2-8     Jimmy and Carolyn Riddle; to his sisters and brothers-in-law,
 2-9     Shannon and Kyle Janek, and Deni and David Pietsch; to his brother
2-10     and sister-in-law, Jason and Julie Riddle; to his grandmothers,
2-11     Helen Riddle and Ruth Dillon; to his fiance, Kelly Dawn Oliver; and
2-12     to the many other relatives and friends of this exceptional young
2-13     man; and, be it further
2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-16     House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in
2-17     memory of Ryan Lee "Smiley" Riddle.
