HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Winnsboro High School Lady Raiders basketball
 1-2     team has reached the pinnacle of success in high school basketball
 1-3     by winning the 1999 UIL Class 3A state championship; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, In the semifinal round of the state tournament,
 1-5     Winnsboro outscored Shallowater High School 72-44 to advance to the
 1-6     Class 3A finals for the fourth time in the 1990s; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Determined to secure the 1999 title, Winnsboro
 1-8     demonstrated true championship heart by overcoming Lufkin Hudson
 1-9     High School 56-48 to claim the coveted crown and complete the
1-10     1998-1999 campaign with a phenomenal record of 40 wins against only
1-11     two defeats; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The march to the state championship was a result of
1-13     dedication to the team concept by players Brandi Fowler, Haley
1-14     King, Sarah Mitchell, Stacy Stephens, Sara Hinkley, Kim Jones,
1-15     Rachel Smisek, Kristal Ross, Jamie Herlocker, Amanda Kellar, Lyndsi
1-16     Caddell, Holley Cain, Crystal Herrera, and Candace Crow; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Head Coach Buddy Hawkins worked to ensure that his
1-18     players performed to the best of their abilities, and he was ably
1-19     supported in his efforts by assistant coaches Tina Moore, Lesli
1-20     Anglin, and Tom Campbell; and
1-21           WHEREAS, This group of talented athletes, along with their
1-22     coaches and staff, are a source of tremendous pride to the students
1-23     and faculty at Winnsboro, as well as their many supporters in the
1-24     community, and it is indeed appropriate that they be honored at
 2-1     this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-3     hereby congratulate the members of the Winnsboro High School Lady
 2-4     Raiders basketball team on winning the 1999 UIL Class 3A state
 2-5     title and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success
 2-6     and happiness; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for prominent display at Winnsboro High School as an
 2-9     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and
2-10     Senate.
