HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of U.S. Border Patrol Agent
 1-2     David Pyatte on August 24, 1998, at the age of 37, brought a great
 1-3     loss to the family and many friends of this heroic officer; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native Texan, Agent Pyatte was born in San Angelo
 1-5     and raised in San Antonio; he later settled in Del Rio after eight
 1-6     years of dutiful service as a member of the United States Air
 1-7     Force; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Agent Pyatte's death occurred during an attempted
 1-9     rescue of his mother-in-law, JoAnn Schumann, and the courage and
1-10     selflessness he displayed during the crisis that claimed both their
1-11     lives was well in keeping with the values and priorities he held
1-12     dear throughout his lifetime; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A standout member of his border patrol class, Agent
1-14     Pyatte achieved his lifelong dream when he was graduated from the
1-15     U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Charleston, South Carolina; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Agent Pyatte was admired and respected by his fellow
1-17     agents for his dedication and commitment to excellence, and his
1-18     loss, while devastating, serves as a reminder of the altruistic
1-19     attitude that defined this valiant individual; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Agent David Pyatte was a man of honesty, integrity,
1-21     and courage, and although he has been missed by all who knew and
1-22     loved him, his spirit surely lives on in their hearts and minds;
1-23     now, therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-1     hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Border Patrol Agent David
 2-2     Pyatte and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to
 2-3     his wife, Debra; to his son, Dustin; to his parents, Letha and
 2-4     Norman Pyatte; to his stepmother, Clara Pyatte; to his sisters and
 2-5     brothers; to his grandmother; and to the many other relatives and
 2-6     friends of this courageous individual; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
 2-9     House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in
2-10     memory of U.S. Border Patrol Agent David Pyatte.
