                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, Daniel Vinson Younts II is an outstanding young
 1-2     Texan, and it is indeed appropriate to honor him for his
 1-3     significant accomplishments; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, An Odessa native, Mr. Younts overcame an early
 1-5     life-threatening illness to achieve great success in his life thus
 1-6     far, and this spring he will graduate from the Ector County
 1-7     Independent School District Career Center with an emphasis in
 1-8     business and marketing; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In 1998 he demonstrated his dedication to his
1-10     community by earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout; his Eagle
1-11     Scout project included conducting a book drive at First Baptist
1-12     Church and building two bookshelves to house the new volumes
1-13     acquired to benefit the Mission Odessa Ministry, and he also
1-14     initiated a reading and homework program at a local apartment
1-15     community; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Mr. Younts donates much of his time to activities at
1-17     the First Baptist Church of Odessa, where he attends Sunday school
1-18     and is a valued member of the youth leadership team, the youth
1-19     ministry and choir, and the ensemble New Creation; and
1-20           WHEREAS, A graduate of Junior Leadership Odessa, this fine
1-21     young man has applied his myriad talents to participation in the
1-22     Bonham Junior High School orchestra and octathalon team, the Key
1-23     Club, and the Odessa Family YMCA Texas Youth and Government
1-24     program, and in the summer of 1998, he was chosen to attend the
 2-1     Rotary Camp, R.Y.L.A.; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, In the past, Mr. Younts has worked as a cylinder
 2-3     painter for his family's business, Basin Welding Supply, and he is
 2-4     currently employed as a student assistant for the United Way of
 2-5     Odessa as part of the Career Center Internship Program; his future
 2-6     plans are to attend Odessa College and Hardin-Simmons University
 2-7     and major in business; and
 2-8           WHEREAS, Daniel Vinson Younts II is a dynamic and talented
 2-9     young man, and as he embraces a future bright with promise, it is
2-10     most fitting that he be recognized; now, therefore, be it
2-11           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
2-12     hereby honor Daniel Vinson Younts II for his many achievements and
2-13     extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
2-14     happiness; and, be it further
2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-16     prepared for Mr. Younts as an expression of high regard by the
2-17     Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
