No. 166 76R936 JHS-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Alpine's Tom Longman on June 9, 1998, 1-2 at the age of 63, brought a great loss to the family and many 1-3 friends of this noteworthy gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The co-owner of Triangle Foods and Tom's Patio and 1-5 Country Cottage, Mr. Longman served his fellow citizens for many 1-6 years as city manager of Alpine and later as a member of the Alpine 1-7 City Council; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Longman's visionary leadership and expert 1-9 guidance were an integral part of his success in local government, 1-10 and his dedication to improving the quality of life of the 1-11 residents of Alpine earned him the respect and admiration of 1-12 friends and colleagues alike; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Tom Longman was a man of honor and integrity, and 1-14 although he has been missed by all who knew him, his spirit 1-15 continues to live on in the hearts and minds of the many people 1-16 whose lives he touched during his time on this earth; now, 1-17 therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-19 hereby pay tribute to the life of Tom Longman and extend sincere 1-20 sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Jean Longman; 1-21 to his daughters, Karen Wong, Theresa Roberts, and Laurie Longman; 1-22 to his sister, Marjorie Oswald; to his grandchildren, nieces, and 1-23 nephews; and to the many other relatives and friends of this 1-24 beloved gentleman; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-3 House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in 2-4 memory of Tom Longman.
