                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Honorable Ramona Armendariz Lara has served as
 1-2     county-district clerk of Presidio County since 1983 and has been
 1-3     employed by the Presidio County Clerk's office for almost 40 years,
 1-4     and she is truly deserving of recognition at this time; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Born April 10, 1939, in Marfa, Mrs. Lara attended
 1-6     St. Mary's Catholic School and Marfa High School, graduating in
 1-7     1957; she worked briefly for the Farah manufacturing plant in her
 1-8     hometown before beginning her employment with Presidio County; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Mrs. Lara was hired by the county as a proofreader
1-10     and typist on February 10, 1959, and served as deputy clerk before
1-11     becoming chief deputy clerk; in 1983 this esteemed woman was
1-12     appointed by the Presidio County Commissioners Court to serve as
1-13     county-district clerk, and she has since been elected to that
1-14     respected position for three consecutive terms; and
1-15           WHEREAS, This noteworthy woman has helped to detail the
1-16     history of Presidio County, maintaining the marriage, divorce,
1-17     trial, birth, and death records for the county; she has witnessed
1-18     many changes in legislation during her meritorious tenure as county
1-19     clerk, administering new laws, such as child support collection and
1-20     protective orders, while setting the standard for equality at the
1-21     clerk's office; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Mrs. Lara married Jimmy Lara on November 5, 1961,
1-23     and they have been blessed with three children, Rose Marie Mediano,
1-24     Imelda Margaret Osburn, and Monica Jamie Lara; she looks forward to
 2-1     the "simple life" of retirement, when she can sew, bake, and enjoy
 2-2     the perks of being a grandmother; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Ramona Armendariz Lara has left a legacy of success
 2-4     and excellence for the citizens of Presidio County, and although
 2-5     her wisdom, integrity, and astute leadership will be sorely missed
 2-6     by her colleagues, her many years of dutiful service will not soon
 2-7     be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-9     hereby commend Ramona Armendariz Lara for her outstanding term of
2-10     office as  Presidio County-District Clerk and extend to her sincere
2-11     best wishes for many years of continued happiness in the days of
2-12     her retirement; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for Ramona Armendariz Lara as an expression of high regard
2-15     by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
