HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, Larry Henderson has been a dedicated employee of the 1-2 National Park Service for 37 years, and, on the occasion of his 1-3 retirement, it is indeed appropriate to recognize him for his 1-4 exceptional service to the citizens of Texas and the United States; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, For the past nine years Mr. Henderson has served the 1-7 National Park Service as Guadalupe Mountains National Park 1-8 superintendent, and during that time he has worked with men and 1-9 women from Texas and New Mexico, sharing his wisdom and offering 1-10 his guidance; and 1-11 WHEREAS, This determined gentleman has supported the mission 1-12 of the National Park Service during his tenure at Guadalupe 1-13 Mountains National Park, and in doing so he has helped conserve its 1-14 scenery, natural and historical objects, and wildlife for the 1-15 enjoyment of future generations; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The park is a spectacular Permian-aged reef that was 1-17 formed roughly 250 million years ago and became a national park in 1-18 1972; it is home to Guadalupe Peak, the highest point in Texas at 1-19 8,749 feet, features unique flora and fauna, and encompasses 86,416 1-20 acres that were acquired through land purchases and generous 1-21 donations; and 1-22 WHEREAS, It is from this park that Mr. Henderson embarks upon 1-23 retirement to spend more well-deserved time with his family; his 1-24 exceptional career has earned him the respect and admiration of his 2-1 friends, family, colleagues, and community, and it is truly a 2-2 pleasure to honor him for his many years of dedicated service to 2-3 the National Park Service and Guadalupe Mountains National Park; 2-4 now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-6 hereby commend Larry Henderson for his achievements and 2-7 extraordinary service to the National Park Service and extend to 2-8 him sincere best wishes for the years to come; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Mr. Henderson as an expression of high regard by the 2-11 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
