HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, Vollie Urbantke of San Angelo will celebrate her 1-2 80th birthday on May 25, 1999, and this memorable occasion is 1-3 indeed worthy of special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mrs. Urbantke was born in Runnels County on May 25, 1-5 1919, and attended school in Sweet Home until the eighth grade when 1-6 she stayed home to care for her mother and help run the farm; and 1-7 WHEREAS, On January 15, 1941, she wed B. G. Urbantke in 1-8 Rowena, and together they lovingly raised five children; today, she 1-9 has seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, to whom she 1-10 is affectionately known as "Granny"; and 1-11 WHEREAS, After moving to San Angelo in 1961, Mrs. Urbantke 1-12 began employment at Baptist Memorial Hospital, and her generous and 1-13 joyful spirit brought cheer into the lives of the sick and elderly 1-14 until her retirement in 1990; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Urbantke remains a vibrant woman who enjoys 1-16 gardening, reading, sewing, and crocheting, and her beautiful 1-17 afghans are cherished by all those who have received one; and 1-18 WHEREAS, This outstanding Texan is an inspiration to her many 1-19 friends and family members, and it is truly a pleasure to join them 1-20 in honoring her at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-22 hereby congratulate Vollie Urbantke on the occasion of her 80th 1-23 birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued 1-24 happiness; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for Mrs. Urbantke as an expression of high regard by the 2-3 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
