No. 268 76R15455 DKI-D HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The recent passing of Roye Artice Mulholland of 1-2 Austin on April 15, 1999, has brought a great loss to the family 1-3 and many friends of this esteemed Texan; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Mulholland was born in Coleman on September 3, 1-5 1907, and graduated from high school in Lampasas; in 1930, he 1-6 married Mary Ella Sewell and the couple were blessed with three 1-7 children, Glenn Roye, Richard Frank, and Nancy; and 1-8 WHEREAS, After earning a civil engineering degree in Chicago 1-9 in 1940, he was engaged in building defense plants throughout the 1-10 South during World War II; he moved to Austin in 1944 and became an 1-11 engineer with the Texas Department of Health; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. Mulholland remarried in 1947, to Olga Linden, 1-13 and the two remained together until her death; he left his job with 1-14 the State of Texas in 1954 and worked in a private consulting 1-15 engineering practice through his last days; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Throughout much of his life, Mr. Mulholland was a 1-17 dedicated and active member of the Masonic Fraternity, and he was 1-18 conferred with the 33rd degree, the highest possible honor that may 1-19 be given by the order; he was a past master of University Lodge 1-20 1190 AF & AM and served as secretary and secretary emeritus of the 1-21 organization as well; and 1-22 WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Mulholland was instrumental in the 1-23 successful operation of the Scottish Rite Dormitory for Girls in 1-24 Austin; he had been on the dormitory's board of directors since 2-1 1966 and served as president from 1972 until his passing; and 2-2 WHEREAS, His leadership and direction brought great benefits 2-3 to the fraternity and to the dormitory, and he was instrumental in 2-4 getting the dormitory placed on the National Register of Historic 2-5 Places; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Though his guidance and loyalty will be deeply 2-7 missed, his spirit will surely live on in the hearts of all who 2-8 knew him, and it is indeed fitting to honor his memory at this 2-9 time; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-11 hereby pay tribute to the life of Roye Artice Mulholland and extend 2-12 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his children, 2-13 Glenn Mulholland and his wife, Donna, Richard Mulholland and his 2-14 wife, Pat, and Nancy Burson; to his brothers, Cecil Mulholland and 2-15 Thurman Mulholland; to his sister, Hazel Dumas; to his 2-16 grandchildren, Linda Sanders, Steve Mulholland, Barbara J. Danel, 2-17 and Kathy McWright; and to his nine great-grandchildren; and, be it 2-18 further 2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-20 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-21 House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in 2-22 memory of Roye Artice Mulholland.
