                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The retirement of Lubbock Monterey High School
 1-2     baseball coach Bobby Moegle brings to a close the remarkable career
 1-3     of this West Texas coaching legend; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, When Coach Moegle first joined the staff of Lubbock
 1-5     Monterey High School in 1959 he had yet to coach a game and the
 1-6     baseball team had never won an area title; the ensuing 40 years
 1-7     have seen him compile an astounding record of 1,114-266, a victory
 1-8     total many believe to be the winningest in the nation, while
 1-9     guiding Monterey to four state championships and 10 state runner-up
1-10     finishes; and
1-11           WHEREAS, A United States Army veteran, Coach Moegle used a
1-12     strong coaching style to instill in his players a combination of
1-13     self-discipline and mental toughness that enabled them to
1-14     consistently battle through adversity and achieve success on the
1-15     diamond; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Throughout his stellar career, Bobby Moegle has
1-17     distinguished himself as a baseball coach of supreme ability, and
1-18     it is indeed appropriate to pay tribute to him at this time; now,
1-19     therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
1-21     hereby honor Bobby Moegle for his 40 years of outstanding service
1-22     as Lubbock Monterey High School baseball coach and extend to him
1-23     sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
1-24     further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for Coach Moegle as an expression of high regard by the
 2-3     Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
