                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of William Duane Morgan of Arlington on
 1-2     March 26, 1999, at the age of 81, has brought a great loss to the
 1-3     many friends and relatives of this beloved gentleman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born March 30, 1917, in Macomb, Illinois, Mr. Morgan
 1-5     served his country with distinction as a member of the United
 1-6     States Marine Corps; he was a participant in the Pacific theater
 1-7     during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star with V-Device,
 1-8     and he retired in 1960 with the rank of lieutenant colonel; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the military, Colonel
1-10     Morgan began his civilian career working with RCA in New Jersey; in
1-11     1970, he and his family made their home in Texas and he was
1-12     employed in the property division of LTV; he was accorded a
1-13     well-deserved honor in 1982 when he was selected for the National
1-14     Property Management Association's "Man of the Year" award; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Colonel Morgan was a devoted family man who with his
1-16     wife, Joyce, enjoyed 51 years of marriage that served as a great
1-17     inspiration to their family and friends; and
1-18           WHEREAS, This highly respected gentleman committed much time
1-19     and enthusiasm for the betterment of his community; he was a member
1-20     of Scottish societies and the Republican Party and for 25 years he
1-21     served as precinct chairman and an election judge; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of
1-23     Mr. Morgan will long miss his presence, and he will surely be
1-24     remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to
 2-1     come; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas
 2-3     hereby honor the memory of William Duane "Bill" Morgan and extend
 2-4     sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Joyce
 2-5     Morgan; to his daughter and son-in-law, Kerrick Morgan Ryan and
 2-6     Colonel Michael C. Ryan; to his grandchildren, Lindsay N.  Ryan and
 2-7     Michael C. Ryan, Jr.; and to the many other friends and relatives
 2-8     of this fine man; and, be it further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2-11     Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory
2-12     of William Duane Morgan.
