HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives and Senate are 1-2 proud to congratulate Sue Bounds on her retirement from the Lubbock 1-3 Independent School District on June 23, 1999, as she is concluding 1-4 an outstanding career dedicated to educational excellence; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Bounds attended the University of Mary 1-6 Hardin-Baylor and earned a bachelor's degree in music education; 1-7 she continued her pursuit of academic excellence at Texas Tech 1-8 University and obtained a master's degree in elementary education 1-9 and an administrative certificate; and 1-10 WHEREAS, This esteemed educator has devoted her considerable 1-11 talents to the Lubbock Independent School District for 36 years; 1-12 she taught elementary school during the first half of her 1-13 association with the district and has served as principal of Murfee 1-14 Elementary School for the past 18 years; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Under her expert leadership, Murfee Elementary 1-16 School has been rated "exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency for 1-17 six consecutive years, and it is one of only five elementary 1-18 schools in the Lone Star State to attain exemplary status every 1-19 year since the accountability system was first established; and 1-20 WHEREAS, In honor of her commitment and professionalism, 1-21 Mrs. Bounds has been named 1999 Educator of the Year by the 1-22 district PTA and she has also been selected as the 1999 TEPSAN of 1-23 the Year by the Region XVII Texas Elementary Principal and 1-24 Supervisors Association; and 2-1 WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Bounds has enjoyed the 2-2 support of her devoted husband, Jack; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Sue Bounds has set high 2-4 standards to which all educators may aspire, and she is indeed 2-5 worthy of special recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the 76th Legislature of the State of Texas 2-7 hereby commend Sue Bounds on her dedication to the students of the 2-8 Lubbock Independent School District and extend to her sincere best 2-9 wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for Mrs. Bounds as an expression of high regard by the 2-12 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
