R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
1-2 recognize administrators, faculty, students, and parents from the
1-3 Bynum Independent School District on the occasion of their visit to
1-4 the State Capitol on January 25, 1999; and
1-5 WHEREAS, This accomplished group of adults and students
1-6 consistently strives to maintain the highest level of learning
1-7 within a nurturing school and community environment, and their
1-8 dedication to excellence in education has been rewarded by the
1-9 school's designation as "exemplary" by the Texas Education Agency;
1-10 and
1-11 WHEREAS, An outstanding example of the consistent effort and
1-12 commitment being demonstrated in the Bynum school system is the 100
1-13 percent passing rate among all juniors and seniors taking the Texas
1-14 Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) test; and
1-15 WHEREAS, In recognition of their excellent TAAS scores, more
1-16 than half of the students in the junior class were exempted from
1-17 participation in the Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP) and eight
1-18 juniors received academic recognition for testing at 95 percent or
1-19 above for one or more sections of the TAAS test; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Several seniors of this exceptional school system,
1-21 who are eager for additional scholastic challenges, are also
1-22 enrolled in the Hillsboro Community College while they complete
1-23 their final year of high school; and
1-24 WHEREAS, A well-balanced curriculum encourages and supports
2-1 students as they strive for success in a variety of activities, as
2-2 was ably demonstrated by the girls' varsity volleyball team, which
2-3 brought honor to the community by earning the title of bi-district
2-4 champions and being named area qualifiers; and
2-5 WHEREAS, The students of the Bynum Independent School
2-6 District will undoubtedly take their place among our state's next
2-7 generation of leaders, and their dedication to the spirit of
2-8 scholastic and athletic perseverance, as evidenced by their
2-9 exceptional accomplishments, indicates that the future of the Lone
2-10 Star State rests in capable hands; now, therefore, be it
2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas
2-12 Legislature hereby commend members of the visiting delegation from
2-13 the Bynum Independent School District for their significant
2-14 achievements and extend to them warmest best wishes for many more
2-15 years of continued success; and, be it further
2-16 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-17 prepared for the Bynum Independent School District as an expression
2-18 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
