By Counts H.R. No. 29 76R4059 JBR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Jim M. Heidenheimer on December 6, 1-2 1998, at the age of 82, has brought a great loss to the family and 1-3 many friends of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Heidenheimer was born in 1-5 Galveston on December 7, 1915; after graduating from Galveston's 1-6 Ball High School, he moved to Anson to work with his uncle, Alfred 1-7 Heidenheimer; together they expanded the chain of Heidenheimer's 1-8 Department Stores beyond Anson to the cities of Winters, Ballinger, 1-9 Cisco, Hamlin, and Haskell; and 1-10 WHEREAS, In 1977, Mr. Heidenheimer purchased First National 1-11 Bank in Anson, which he served as chairman of the board until his 1-12 death, and as president from 1984 to 1994; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army, this dutiful gentleman 1-14 honorably served his country and carried his aptitude for service 1-15 to the community level as a board member of several agencies, 1-16 including the West Central Texas Municipal Water District, the West 1-17 Texas Rehabilitation Center Foundation, and the Hendrick Medical 1-18 Center Foundation; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Mr. Heidenheimer's leadership skills were noted 1-20 during his tenure as chairman of the board for the West Texas 1-21 Rehabilitation Center and as chairman of the Double Mountain 1-22 District of the Chisholm Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America; his 1-23 concern for the well-being of people was also demonstrated through 1-24 his participation as a trustee for the Anson Independent School 2-1 District and Anson General Hospital; and 2-2 WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Mr. Heidenheimer enjoyed a 2-3 strong and loving relationship with his wife of 51 years, Thelma 2-4 Heidenheimer; in addition, he was a member of Temple Mizpah in 2-5 Abilene and was active with the Anson Lions Club; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the love and 2-7 friendship of Jim Heidenheimer will long miss his presence, and he 2-8 will surely be remembered with great affection and admiration for 2-9 many years to come; now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 2-11 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jim M. Heidenheimer 2-12 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-13 wife, Thelma Heidenheimer; to his daughter, Carla Heidenheimer; to 2-14 his sons and daughter-in-law, Lee "Heide" Heidenheimer and Mitch 2-15 and Clarise Heidenheimer; to his brother and sister-in-law, Winston 2-16 and Ruth Heidenheimer; to his four grandchildren, Kimberly Alvarez, 2-17 Tiffany Heidenheimer, Hunter Heidenheimer, and Collin Heidenheimer; 2-18 to his one great-grandchild, Drake Alvarez; to his nieces and 2-19 nephews; and to the many other people whose lives were touched by 2-20 this fine man; and, be it further 2-21 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-22 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-23 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-24 Jim M. Heidenheimer.
