R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Police Officer Wayne Wright of the Big Spring Police 1-2 Department is an outstanding and heroic public servant whose 1-3 actions truly merit legislative recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The quick response of Officer Wright on October 15, 1-5 1998, saved the life of an individual trapped inside a burning 1-6 home; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Upon his arrival at the scene, Officer Wright 1-8 learned someone was located in the flame-engulfed residence and, 1-9 putting his personal safety aside, entered the home hoping to 1-10 rescue that individual; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The success of his first attempt was stifled by the 1-12 penetrating smoke, but he was able to locate the trapped man, 1-13 fighting the intense heat, smoke, and flames to rescue the victim; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, The steadfast courage with which Officer Wright 1-16 approached the situation was instrumental in saving the victim; his 1-17 great concern for the safety and protection of others has earned 1-18 him the admiration and esteem of his professional colleagues, and 1-19 it is fitting that the Texas House of Representatives also 1-20 recognize his praiseworthy deed; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby commend Police Officer Wayne Wright on his 1-23 exemplary act of heroism; and, be it further 1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared for Officer Wright as an expression of high regard by the 2-2 Texas House of Representatives.
